About James Sperry
Product Performance Advisor | Founder, Agile Intention
I spent 20 years inside some of the largest, most complex organizations in the country; AT&T, Qualcomm, Hewlett-Packard, and the Department of the Navy among them.
My job, in every one of those organizations, was to make things move faster. I was brought in when delivery was broken, when teams were stuck, when leadership knew something was wrong but couldn't diagnose exactly what. I mapped the processes, identified the bottlenecks, redesigned the workflow, and measured whether it worked.
I did this across organizations with thousands of people, billion-dollar budgets, and all the complexity that comes with them.
What I kept seeing in every organization, at every scale was the same pattern: smart people, working hard, in systems that weren't designed to let them win. Processes nobody had documented. Handoffs that always dropped something. Decisions that took weeks when they should take hours. And technology being layered on top of all of it before anyone understood what was actually broken.
I started Agile Intention because I wanted to bring that same diagnostic capability to growth-stage businesses, the manufacturers, the builders who have the same problems but rarely have access to the expertise to solve them.
This isn't consulting from a whiteboard. I've been in the middle of it. I know what it feels like when a change program stalls, when a team pushes back, when the data doesn't say what you hoped. I also know what it feels like when a process finally flows; when a team moves without friction and the numbers start moving too. That's what I'm here to build with you.

Twenty years in Lean and Agile has taught me one thing: Frameworks don't fix businesses—better systems do. I specialize in finding the "friction points" that are costing you the most and neutralizing them. The key is prioritize the high-impact changes that drive immediate value rather than overwhelming your team with "transformation" for its own sake. Nice and simple. No fluff, just targeted operational improvements that create a better culture and a faster path to market.
My process starts with a diagnostic designed to uncover how your business actually functions. We then co-create a roadmap for improvement that is grounded in data and reality. I’m a partner in the room, not a consultant on the sidelines, ensuring every change is measurable, manageable, and impactful.
Lean isn't about cutting corners. It's about clearing the path.
And then we measure it. Because a process change that doesn't move your numbers isn't a success. The goal is always the same: more output, less waste, faster to revenue.
